01 — The piece
The Ngong began as a problem we kept meeting in dining rooms: a wall that needed storage, a room too narrow for doors that swing. Its fronts slide instead, and they are made of solid walnut slats set on edge, so a plain run of doors becomes something with depth, rhythm and shadow.
Behind them are adjustable shelves sized for plates, glassware and serving dishes. The case sits on slim blackened-steel legs, lifted clear of the floor so the room reads as larger and the floor beneath is easy to keep clean. It is made to the width the wall wants.
